| The first 45 minutes or so, as the aliens are gathering over Earth, are spectacular. The plotting and characters are awful, though, and too much of it is just stupid. "I'm aware of their manoeuvring capabilities".... well, so what? I'm aware of how Boeing 747's *manoeuvre*, doesn't mean I could fly one. Judd Hirsch gives one of the worst stereotype performances of a Jewish guy this side of 'Der Ewige Jude', Bill Pullman is terrible and Randy Quaid should never be allowed to act again. |

| Great film, but now with a new concept added: while watching the film, the soundtrack starts over again, and again, and again and again. So if you did not hear the dialog clearly the first time, don't worry, the dialog will come around again in a minute or two. When explosions occur in another version of the soundtrack, that can be really distracting. So it is a great film, but THIS SYSTEM SUCKS, BIG TIME!! |
