Windston Churill is portrait as a drunk, undecisve, old and grumbling man during the D-day invasion. One neither will learn anything about the events before or afterwards. None of the brilliant intellectual conversations he had, nor anything about the unique leadership he showed during WWII is shown. Looks like the author took pleasure in demolishing the memory of Churchill. After 70 years one surely can find things and put them in a concerted manner on screen. By skiping all of the achievements and displaying him as a drunkard is not learn anything about the historic figure but rather a watch a savage.

I didn't realize that Winston Churchill was an eccentric, cantankerous, old man that was an embarrassment to his officers, and would have cost us (and the free world) the victory we achieved in Europe, if anyone had given his ideas any credence. I thought he was just a great man. What a pathetic waste of a movie. If your a liberal that into the revisionist history that liberals are into, then you'll love this movie. It does have great acting and great directing, and some very well executed and powerful scenes. You'll probably want to cry. Kinda like Ben Affleck's Pear Harbor movie, in that it's more Soap Opera than historical movie. 2 Stars. Unless your a liberal woman then 5 Stars.

What a fantastic film. Very powerful acting from all. I was born after the second world war, so I did know much abut Winston, well I do now and Sir Winston Churchill certainly deserved his title . God bless Sir Winston, and his wife of course.
