Hackman always plays a winner well. This a good story for everyone to see. I give it a 4

It's a good formula sports movie--one of the best of the genre. Dennis Hopper stole the show. The weak point was the obligatory love interest--Hackman and Hershey had no chemistry. The film would have been stronger without it.
