Although the political storie may be accurate, there is not one shed of evidence that J. Edgar Hoover was gay or that he and Tolsen were anything but life long friends.

I was bored too. I have to admit that I didn't watch very much. I was expecting more history. When Hoover was so passionate and afraid of Bolsheviks and Commies who did he mean, I was wondering. Does it get more into his motives later in the movie?

Dunno what leviathan is talking about; there is nothing dull here at all. All actors at their best ... DiCaprio brilliant ... Eastwood brilliant, mature, and not spicey, as some would have it.

Good performance from DiCaprio but the film itself is a bit dull. Eastwood concentrates so hard on being even handed that he takes any spice out of the plot, so instead we get a series of events, some unfortunate, some not, rather than any sort of gripping narrative. Scorsese would have owned this film.
